Meckel’s Scan

You will be required to fast from food, and cease smoking and alcohol for 4 hours prior to scan.

A Meckel’s Scan involves a small injection into a vein, usually in your arm. The injection contains a slightly radioactive tracer. There are no side effects from this tracer and it contains only a small amount of radiation.

Images of the abdomen commence immediately after injection is administered for 30-45 minutes.

Our Nuclear Medicine Physician will review the images and issue a report. Once completed, the report will be sent electronically to your referring health professional.
